The "Farewell to Ginza" Exhibition Our Steps in 7 years - from Ginza

September 9 Tue., 2003 - October 29 Wed., 2003

This is our final Special Exhibition held in "Ginza".

It has been 7 years since we opened this museum in September 1996. Fortunately, we have attracted widespread popularity as "Mitsuo Aida Museum in Ginza". During this period, we held 25 Exhibitions and 7 Special Exhibitions. We have displayed nearly 500 works in total.

This exhibition will be the last one in Ginza before we move our museum to Tokyo International Forum in November. Being the summary and the essence of these seven years, this exhibition surely can't be missed.

The 25th Exhibition - Summer Vacation Special: Poems of The Heart for

June 10 Tue., 2003 - September 7 Sun., 2003

The eye of children and that of parents. At the point where they meet.
What will happen if we place Mitsuo Aida's works there? A mother/father-child verbal interaction may possibly start.

Mitsuo Aida did not use difficult terms or characters to describe a state of mind. This is why his works are appreciated by anyone in his/her own way regardless of age.

This exhibition features the works for parents and children to enjoy together. Ideal for a family outing during this summer vacation. (Admission free for primary and junior/senior high school students.)

The 24th Exhibition Aida Mitsuo in English

March 11 Tue., 2003 - June 8 Sun., 2003

Appreciating Aida Mitsuo through English

No matter how familiar you are with Aida Mitsuo's works, you may find something unexpected when you read them in English.
This is because the significance of words that you have never noticed before or the hidden traces of thinking will come up by going beyond the limit of the Japanese language.
The first paginal translation, "IMA KOKO - THE HERE AND NOW," was published in 1996, which has given us another point of view on Mitsuo's works. Three of his books have also been translated into English so far.
In this age of globalization, we would like you to appreciate the world of Aida Mitsuo further through English.

6th Anniversary Commemorative Exhibition "Rourei" (Aging Beautifully) -from youth to maturity-

September 3@Tuesday., 2002 - December 15 Sunday., 2002

"Rourei," which means to age beautifully, is a word coined by Aida Mitsuo, who lived his 67 year-long life with a cherished motto of "Forever learning, forever young." He coined the word Rourei in the closing stages of his life.

In a sense, Aida Mitsuo's oeuvre may fall somewhere in between "forever learning" and "forever young." The work "Injury on a playing field," which will premiere in this exhibition, is regarded just as the cornerstone among them.

"The injury on a playing field should be healed with the sand on the same playing fieldc" The word Rourei came into being as the result of this persistence. Along with other related premiered works, this exhibition explores the significance of Rourei.

The 21st Exhibition - The Power of Words - Aida Mitsuo, A Poet

March 12 Tuesday., 2002 - June 9 Sunday., 2002

Here are the words with roots.
The poems written by Aida Mitsuo have a little bit different image than any other general ones.
That is because all the words he used are based on life.
The words based on life can also be referred to as 'the words with roots.'
The words without roots may be blown off by the wind of the age.
But the words with roots have the power to stand up against the wind since they have something that we can't see - the roots.
The works left by Aida Mitsuo are full of these words and charm people with their own magnetic attraction.
